West Coast Rock & Media Tour August 2005

Fri 5 The 3B bar - Bellingham, Washington w/ The Contra and The Modern Machines.

Kicking it off in flames! The bro's (Egg, Biscuit, and Danish) had to drive around a closed highway to due to raging forest fires on their way to Bellingham to meet up with me, the newly married Bacon. Had a great show in Bellingham even though we had to play first. Crystal and Matt again hooked us up with goofy late night outfits and a place to crash. In the a.m. we were awoken by a knocking on the already open door. After a couple of ignores, Egg said "come in" and then we heard "Sheriff's Office, does Marcus live here?" Turns out the neighbors are super sketchy (probably working on some Ajax Hole) and the cops thought it was the same house. After a hippy breakfast and some urine soaked blackberries we hopped in the ambulance and headed south towards stanwood.

Sat 6 Stanwood Tavern- Stanwood, Washington- w/ The Stereotypes.

We rolled up to Adam and Greta's house on camano island and chilled out in his killer house while adam worked on building some stairs for his basement. We made some bling and some laughs and then grabbed some thai food for dinner before the show. Stanwood is always a hoot, especially for me cuz I went to middle/high-school there and this time was no different. Turns out that there was a class of '95 reunion that weekend so I got to see tons of old faces. We played with a band called the stereo types from san diego that were pretty good. after the show we headed back out to Adam's and went for a sweet night walk to freestyle battle out in the woods.

Sun 7 Sabala’s Mt Tabor Pub- Portland, Oregon w/ Book of Maps and Sourcecode.

Sabala's in portland was our next destination and we rolled in to town early enough to hit up escape from new york for some good slices before the show. Sabala's is a pretty sweet club with a whole bunch of crazy old time carnival/horror pictures and paintings all over the place. they give you these crazy glasses to look at them with and they pictures jump out of the walls and stuff. trippy dude. we played with sourcecode and book of maps, both bands with a helping of missoula in them. show was loud and boomin and the old bros hooked us up missoula style. A bunch of friends came out and I even got to hang out with my new brother in law, T.G., which is always a hoot. Had a blast late night watching the long awaited and highly anticipated Mr. jiggs bar mitzva video. That chimp is amazing and sad helmet could really play them drums.

Mon 8 Fulcrum records- Chico, California w/ Stinkmitt -9pm all ages.

Had quite a haul the next going from portland to chico for a show at fulcrum records. Stopped in corning to pick up alex (egg's sister) before the show. played with 4 other bands 2 of which were laptop ladies with hip hop attitudes (niki click and skismitt). smaller show but it was a monday and hot as hell after all. cruised back to Alex's for some showers and tv before hitting the sack. thanks again alex.

Tues 9 Hemlock Tavern, San Francisco, California.

Off to sf with seafood on our minds. got into chinatown around 3 and proceeded towards dim sum. egg went out to toss more change in the meter to find out that the AMBULANCE HAD BEEN TOWED! But never fear, within an hour we were back in our sweet lady with a little less flow ($248 to be exact). a little bit of free time led us the wharf for chillin and swillin before we steered towards the Hemlock. scored a sweet parking spot where Danish and I got to witness a crackhead smoke down go down for the first time. A whole bunch of peeps came out to the show (jeff t., james, willow, jolene, adam, ali and most notably tim green and his lady friend sonya). We were super amped to get to play for all the homies and also stoked to have a place to stay with jeff.

Wed 10 Skate Jam, Woodward west, Tehachapi, California.

Had to boogie in the a.m., but we made a stop at delux to see james j. and get some proddy to hopefully sell at our next show at Woodward West in tehachapi. Thanks again deluxe and crew. Made it to woodward in time to catch the ending of a bowl comp by the staff (buzzy, dylan, jamie, kyle, toni) and set up to play for a bunch of the kiddies. This was probably one of the most unique shows of the tour seeing as how we played to an audience that ranged mostly from 5 to 17 year olds. There was a hand-full of kids that totally ruled and they snatched up almost all of our bling and shirts. Love those guys! Next morning we got a tour of the camp and had lunch with the campers just like the old days. I got to skate for about 20 minutes or so which proved to be enough time to skrog my neck up pretty good.

Thurs 11 Scolari's- San diego, California.

Got stuck in traffic a bit on the way to san diego, but it seemed pretty unavoidable. Landed at Scolarie's with enough time to go to Ranchos for some sweet mexican eatin' before submitting ourselves to a not so fun show (thats three strikes for SD, what's up?). Gotta thank bubs and marie for putting us up and putting up with us.

Fri 12 kxlu demolisten Los Angeles, California (6-8) & then @ Mr.T’s Bowl with Midway, The Power Cords, The Mormons, and 8-Bit.

Got into LA early to avoid traffic and be prepared to rock for the radio. fred kiko hooked us up with the spot around 6:30 and we proceeded to blow the airwaves apart. Unfortunately the sound guys had already blown themselves out a bit so the recording didn't turn out so good. Afterwards we bailed to mr. t's bowl in highland park and met up with a bunch of friends (sean from arlo, abe, sahra and farley). This show kicked ass; Arlo the sound dude rules, the power cords were awesome and also bowed down to rock out first since it was a free show and we really needed to sell some merch. Thanks again Pat and the rest of the crew. We slayed the second slot and then 8-bit was up to rip some people's heads off with there nintendo inspired gangsta raps and thermal suits. Midway took on 4th with a first place performance and amazing merch set up (love those guys!!!!!!!). The Mormons finished up the night and we headed to abes for some late night platinum record action up in hollywood ( a true bro from way back when, thanks again abe). There was also a mysterious appearance by Benedict, the Saudi Arabian King.

Sat 13 The Mustang, Modesto , California.

After some old style delicatessen eats in the am, we headed north towards Modesto for our next show. We got into town early enough to catch "war of the worlds" at the local theatre before cruising to the show at the mustang. There was an interesting crowd there and we played with 2 other bands (sonic powered people and extra shadow). Probably the best thing about this show was the 32 oz. beers we got in plastic cups. Thanks to Beca for hooking us up with a place to stay and letting me rock out on your keyboard (KORG MS2000R).

Sun 14 kickass house party- Sacramento, California with the Readymades and Pets.

With Sacremento being our next show (and so close to Modesto) we gave the ambulance some love in the way of an oil change and some extra fluids before taking off. We rolled into Sacto around 3:30 and stopped by Flatspot Skateshop to say hi to Mike. After checking out the shop we rolled over to Jeff's house for the BBQ/Garage show/glory Jam. There weren't many people there, but we sold a bunch of merch and people tossed $$ into a hat for us too. We played with the ready mades and pets, who were both awesome. The glory jam ruled: a bunch of people switching off instruments and jamming and then it slowly turned into some Black Sabbath, Beatles, and Danzig covers. Thanks to Charles and Jeff for hooking up the show, and Mike and Olivia for the sweet place to stay. Joe got into a hobo mood and decided to dig something out of the dumpster and chow down on it.

Mon 15 The Tonic Lounge-Portland, Oregon- withC.A.C. and HOMEWRECKER.

Got up early the next day for the longest drive of the tour: Sacremento to Portland. We were on the highway by 9:00 a.m. and ready for lunch by the time we made it to Ashland. We pulled into a Subway and one of the guys behind the counter bought a CD and had us all autograph it. We continued north and made it to the Tonic Lounge around 8:00. This show was a little weird. We played with CAC, who were two really good rappers and a mostly girl rock band called Homewrecker who blew. The club had a really weird door policy where they ask the people who come in what band they were there to see and then pay the bands according to that. Since the flyers that Bob sent were still in the envelope on the guys desk, not many people even knew that we were playing, so #@%!*+#!@*. It was still cool to see Don and Eric from Black Elk and Bill from Ally Distribution. Chimichonga Samba Sabrina Sumo Kumlouta. "Chimichonga Samba Sabrina Sumo Kumlouta!" "Chimichonga Samba Sabrina Sumo Kumlouta?"

Tues 16 Mikey's Gyros- Moscow, Idaho.

Woke up a little late for the drive to Moscow, ID so we got right on the road. After a little detour of directions getting mixed up, we made it to Mikey's Gyros around 9:00. Moscow has a really cool scene with lots of friendly people. We played with The Fonts, Cerebral Linguistics and a sideshow/puppet show guy. We had a great response and got paid well too. At midnight it was Biscuit's 29th birthday, so we went around the corner to a bar and gave him the best present you could possibly get: a wild turkey on the rocks and a bluegrass jam band that ended up covering R. Kelly's "Remix to Ignition". Thanks to Brad for hooking up the show and Zack for the floor space. And there you have it. We got back into town around 3:00, got Biscuit to his birthday BBQ and the rest is history. Thanks again to everyone who came out, helped out, hooked up and hung out. Time to start working on a new batch of "Santorum!"
